Abstract

The implementation of innovative concepts, such as digital concrete production and process automation, could lead to an increase in productivity and a reduction in material requirements in the concrete sector. The scientific community has recognized this potential, and global interest and the number of research and development activities on this topic are growing exponentially. High-quality digital manufacturing concepts are already being developed worldwide and successfully used to print a number of pilot projects. This article provides an overview of the most well-known additive manufacturing processes in concrete construction and key case studies. In addition, the open technical and technological questions are discussed. The focus is on the development of practical solutions and their implementation in the concrete sector.
