Abstract
In order to reduce the resource consumption and the Carbon footprint of the construction industry, new construction principles are required that minimize the use of materials. Walls, ceilings and foundations, which account for more than 60% of the total volume of concrete used worldwide, offer great potential for saving material and CO2 emissions. One promising approach is the use of carbon reinforcement, as it only re- quires a small concrete cover due to its corrosion resistance. In terms of the topology of the structural member, material- efficient ribbed or waffle plates have been used for decades. However, they are not often used in Europe due to their labor- intensive manufacturing, which requires manual installation of the formwork. A recently developed extrusion production process enables the fast, formwork-free production of semi-finished precast components for the fabrication of uniaxially and biaxially supported carbon-reinforced concrete ceiling systems. Parts of the work on the extrusion process have already been presented in [1] and are used in this article to realize novel material-minimized ribbed and honeycomb floor slabs from prefabricated extruded carbon-reinforced con- crete webs or honeycombs. In addition, an outlook is given on the large-scale production of uniaxial and biaxial supported panel systems such as ribbed, waffle, and sandwich panels with honeycomb filling.
