Abstract
Mineral-bonded carbon fiber reinforcement is a new type of reinforcement for concrete construction that offers considerable advantages over existing, plastic-bonded carbon reinforcement. The mineral impregnation increases the performance of the reinforcement at elevated temperatures, improves its bond with the concrete matrix and significantly increases technological flexibility, especially with regard to the digitalization and automation of component production. After explaining the technology for the continuous impregnation of carbon yarns with specially developed, fine mineral binder suspensions, some examples of the automated production of reinforcement systems from this new composite material will be presented. These cases include one-dimensional elements such as bars and lamellas, two-dimensional reinforcements in the form of mats and three-dimensional systems such as reinforcement cages for a balcony or shell structures. Finally, the use of the novel composite for reinforcement in highly automated additive manufacturing such as concrete 3D printing is briefly discussed.
