Abstract

Recent advances in 3D printing technologies have enabled the fabrication of tailored porous materials in the form of networks and cellular structures at multiple scales [1]. Shaping such materials with complex designs is possible with additive manufacturing based on particle-bed deposition and it is beneficial in a wide range of applications [2]. Nevertheless, despite the technological advances during the last decade it remains poorly exploited. This intriguing application of particle-bed 3D printing integrates expertise in material formulation, intricate geometric design through computational methods, and knowledge of building physics and fire safety.
