Abstract
This paper gives a brief overview of low-carbon 3D printed concrete as a potential means of implementing sustainable construction methods in Europe. The definition and uses of 3D printing in the construction industry, concerns with the production of conventional concrete, and the need for low-carbon substitutes are all discussed in the paper. The sustainability performance of low carbon 3D printed concrete and its benefits and comparisons to conventional concrete and other environmentally friendly alternatives are also explored. The review concludes with recommendations for future research and challenges associated with implementing low-carbon 3D-printed concrete in the construction sector. According to the study, using low-carbon 3D printed concrete significantly benefits sustainability by minimizing energy consumption, carbon emissions, and waste. However, for the technology to scale, issues including cost, regulatory restrictions, material accessibility, a lack of knowledge, and size restrictions must be resolved. This study highlights the need for innovation, collaboration, and investment to realize the potential of low-carbon 3D-printed concrete for sustainable construction practices.
